Print Care Instructions

Fine art prints are produced using archival pigment inks and professional Fotospeed papers designed for long-lasting quality. With the right care, your print can be enjoyed for many years and retain its original colour, detail, and finish. The guidance below explains how to handle, store, frame, and display your print to ensure maximum longevity and protection.

Handling Your Print

To avoid marks, dents, or surface damage:

• Handle prints with clean, dry hands
• Hold prints by the edges and avoid touching the image area
• Support larger prints with both hands to prevent creasing
• Remove prints from packaging slowly and carefully
• Keep prints away from food, liquids, or spray cleaners

If you prefer, prints can be handled using cotton gloves, though this is optional with careful handling.

Storing Your Print Before Framing

If you are not framing the print immediately:

• Store the print flat in its original packaging
• Keep it in a cool, dry location
• Avoid placing heavy objects on top
• Keep prints away from damp or fluctuating humidity
• Ensure the print stays in a clean, dust-free environment

For rolled A2 prints, allow them to acclimatise at room temperature before gently unrolling.

Framing Recommendations

Proper framing will protect your print and enhance its appearance.

• Use archival or acid-free mounts and backing boards
• Choose a mount size that provides space around the image
• Avoid tight or edge-to-edge framing that touches the print surface
• Neutral or natural-coloured mounts pair well with most images
• For A2 and larger prints, professional framing is recommended

Mounting creates physical separation between the print and the glazing, preventing sticking and improving presentation.

Display Guidelines

To maintain colour stability and prevent fading:

• Avoid placing prints in strong, direct sunlight
• Keep away from heat sources such as radiators or fireplaces
• Ensure good ventilation but avoid high humidity rooms (bathrooms, kitchens)
• Use UV-protective glass or acrylic when possible
• Display the print in stable indoor lighting conditions

Fine art prints are durable, but environmental care helps preserve them for the long term.

Cleaning and Maintenance

• Clean frames and glazing using a soft, dry cloth
• Do not use cleaning sprays directly on the frame where they may reach the print
• Avoid touching the print surface after framing
• If dust accumulates inside the frame, consult a professional framer

The print itself should not be wiped or cleaned directly once framed.

Caring for Unframed Prints

If you choose to store or display a print without framing:

• Keep prints flat and protected
• Use acid-free storage materials
• Avoid rolling prints repeatedly
• Protect from dust and handling marks

Unframed storage should be temporary unless archival storage boxes are used.

Long-Term Longevity

Your print is produced using museum-grade materials designed for decades of stability. Longevity depends on correct framing and display conditions:

• Stable temperature and humidity
• Use of archival mounts and backing boards
• Protective glazing
• Avoidance of extreme light
• Careful handling during moves or re-framing

Following these steps ensures the print maintains its original appearance over time.
